Ready to go
Joel Sánchez played his last game with the San Martín University shirt as a local. As a gratitude for everything delivered by the midfielder, the club paid him a small tribute before Thursday's match.
Under the command of Álvaro Barco, Joel Sánchez received a framed shirt with the number ten, which he has worn on his back throughout the 2016 season. The midfielder was very happy for this recognition, and wished the team the best.
"I feel very grateful to the club for everything it has given me. I also wish them the best and that they continue to grow as an institution," said Joel Sánchez after the tribute.
The plaque was presented before the match valid for the penultimate round of the playoffs. San Martín University won by one goal to zero against Sport Huancayo at the Miguel Grau stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Argentine Alexis Dominguez.
It is worth remembering that Joel Sánchez was suspended for two years after testing positive in an anti-doping test in the match played by the Peruvian national team against Bolivia for the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil 2014. However, San Martín University never turned their back on him.
Joel Sánchez trained with the 'white' team during the time he was suspended. In his return, the 'Supercuy' repaid all the trust with goals, thus becoming one of the best players on the team.
The midfielder, who is considered for the Peruvian national team, has everything arranged to join Tigres de Mexico next year. Just a few weeks ago, his move to Mexican football was made official, in what will be his first experience playing abroad.
