Charros is on the rise
After a hesitant start, Charros is currently experiencing a sweet moment and has climbed to the top of the standings in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP). However, starting this Friday, the white and blue team will have to find a replacement for their players who will leave with the Mexican National Team to Japan.
Homar Rojas, manager of the Jalisco team, announced that they will seek to bring in a foreign player to replace the absence of third baseman Agustín Murillo, who, along with Japhet Amador and shortstop Amadeo Zazueta, will defend Mexico in a couple of friendly matches against the Japanese team.
"These are commitments that have been in place for a long time, and we are making the necessary moves to bring in a foreign player who can cover third base. We also have other players who can cover for the other absences. This is part of it all, the other teams will contribute as well, we won't be the only ones. It's not ideal, but it's a commitment to the Federation," said Rojas.
These three absences would be significant for Charros, as Zazueta and Murillo are not only key players in the infield, but they are also the two top hitters on the team with the most hits. Japhet, on the other hand, thrilled his fans with a home run last Tuesday against Naranjeros.
Regarding the team's resurgence, which has already placed them among the leaders in the standings, Rojas indicated that it was only a matter of time before his team found the formula to win games this season.
"I think everything has gradually taken shape. At the beginning, we had problems with the starting pitching, but I think they have settled and improved. They have reached the fifth or sixth inning, some even the seventh, and that has given our hitters time to score runs. Our bullpen is very solid, and the wins have come. It was only a matter of time," said Rojas.
Not interested in the All-Star Game
In a more personal perspective, Rojas stated that he is not interested in being considered as one of the managers to participate in the upcoming All-Star Game of the LMP.
"The important thing is Charros, that the team is functioning and winning, that we are competing and in a situation where we win and people have fun. If that opportunity comes, great, if not, we move forward as well. It's not the main focus," he concluded.
If he becomes the manager with the best record of games won in the southern zone (Jalisco and Sinaloa), Homar Rojas would manage the southern team in the All-Star Game on November 27th at the Nuevo Estadio de los Yaquis de Obregón.
