Two Synthetic Grass Fields and a Football Stadium Planned for the Torreón Sports Complex
In addition to the two synthetic grass fields that the Torreón Sports Complex will have starting in December, it is expected to have two more fields with similar characteristics and convert the velodrome into an American Football stadium. This was confirmed by the mayor of Torreón, Miguel Riquelme Solís.
The cost of the two fields in the Torreón Sports Complex is over 5 million 490 thousand pesos, a federal contribution.
The mayor and municipal and sports authorities were present at the construction of two synthetic grass fields. Riquelme Solís took the opportunity to express that they are working and seeking resources for two more fields and the construction of the American Football stadium, which would be used by the teams that have their headquarters there, Panteras and Gigantes.
"I am requesting that next year we manage to have two more synthetic grass fields. I am requesting resources to transform the velodrome into a football field with bleachers, and for this to represent what the Torreón Sports Complex has been for the city."
"Even though there are sports facilities with excellent quality such as La Jabonera, La Línea Verde, and Polideportivo Oriente, the Torreón Sports Complex will always be the Torreón Sports Complex."
"It has always been a breeding ground for all of us, for our children, for people who visit it due to its proximity and central location. But also, there has always been a great atmosphere here with our children," he confirmed.
It was necessary to intervene in those fields, which were previously made of dirt. "Today, the Sports Complex with these fields left much to be desired, and the truth is that today we will have the opportunity to change the environment, which means a lot to the people of Torreón," he added.
WE RECOMMEND: Construction of 2 Fields in Braulio Fernández Sports Complex
Efforts are being made with the Chamber of Deputies to have two more synthetic grass fields.
"The construction of synthetic grass fields is fast, and I hope to inaugurate these two fields in the first days of December. I hope that Deputy Refugio Sandoval can allocate the budget he will receive this year to two more football fields, in order to easily and quickly meet the demands of young athletes and children," he commented.
Meanwhile, Alina Garza Herrera, director of the Municipal Sports Institute in Torreón, stated that after the construction of La Jabonera, La Línea Verde, Polideportivo Oriente, and other investments, future administrations will have high standards to meet.
"Undoubtedly, and in various matters, mainly in the investment of new sports infrastructure, the contributions should continue to grow. But the most important thing is to maintain them in the best conditions, as they are now."
"Even though there are sports facilities with excellent quality such as La Jabonera, La Línea Verde, and Polideportivo Oriente, the Torreón Sports Complex will always be the Torreón Sports Complex."
"With programs and actions, we must pay attention to the sports complexes, not abandon them just because they were not built during our administration, but continue to serve the hundreds and thousands of families who already go to La Jabonera, La Línea Verde, and Polideportivo Oriente," he concluded.
The cost of the two fields in the Torreón Sports Complex is over 5 million 490 thousand pesos, a federal contribution.
The transformation involves two fields and is being carried out within the framework of the State and Municipal Infrastructure Strengthening Fund, with the participation of the Municipal Government.
