Mexican Baseball League announces the participation of Oliver Pérez and Rafael Martín with the Mexican Baseball Team
The Mexican Baseball League informs that the organization of the Washington Nationals has authorized pitchers Oliver Pérez and Rafael Martín to participate with the Mexican Baseball Team, which will be performing on November 10th and 11th at the Tokyo Dome.
This pair of pitchers confirms their inclusion in Manager Edgar González's roster for the two exhibition games that the national team will have in the Far East against the Japanese representative, as part of the preliminary activities for the 2017 World Classic and the promotion of baseball's return to the Olympic program in 2020.
Pérez has 14 years of experience in the Major Leagues. During his long career, his outstanding season was in 2007 when he had a record of 15-10 and a 3.56 ERA with the New York Mets.
The native of Culiacán, Sinaloa made his debut in 2002 with the San Diego Padres and recently pitched in the postseason with the Washington Nationals, who were eliminated in one of the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Meanwhile, Rafael Martín lived his second season in the Majors with the Nationals. In 2015, he had a record of 2-0 with a 5.11 ERA in 13 appearances. In 2016, he had no decisions in eight relief appearances with a 2.45 ERA.
The participation of both players will be of great value for the Mexican team.
