The Veracruz Red Sharks arrive motivated to face Santos
With their motivation through the roof and inspired by their recent success in the league, the Veracruz Red Sharks team arrived in Torreón on Monday afternoon, with the firm intention of defeating Santos on Tuesday night at the Corona Stadium, in the final match of the regular season in the Liga Mx.
The Veracruzians know that with a victory, they will be on the other side, in the final stages of the cup. Santos also needs that victory, as it will be a match of teams in need.
The team was received at the Torreón airport by a small group of fans.
Upon their arrival, Leobardo López, the defender from Michoacán, expressed that Santos can wake up at any moment, due to the great quality of their squad. He hopes it won't be on Tuesday.
"Santos is a team that will rise and perform well, we just hope it's not against us."
"Santos is a team with great players, perhaps they haven't been performing as they would have liked, but they are well-trained, with an experienced and successful strategist. We need to focus on doing our job, on doing what has made us strong in the last few games," he commented upon their arrival.
He added that the goal of the "Shark" team is to leave Torreón with a victory. They arrive motivated after defeating Pachuca in the Liga Mx.
"The team comes with the mentality of advancing, of getting the result that will give us passage to the next phase. After winning in the league, you come to this commitment with extra motivation and we will look for that result," he concluded.
On the other hand, the Argentine forward, Julio Furch, stated that Santos will want to rely on their home crowd to win, but they are determined to get a positive result in Torreón.
"A crucial match where Santos will want to make that count at home, to be honest, we haven't done so well in this group in the cup, we haven't collected as many points as we would have liked, but we come with the intention of playing a good match to get the qualification."
Playing as visitors in Torreón doesn't scare them. "As always, we have had to be on the road and we always go out to seek the match, to extend the good game that we have and try to achieve this positive result," the Argentine emphasized.
