He didn't leave happy

André Jardine said before closing the semi-final second leg: “For me it's open, the same results benefit Cruz Azul, it's part of the rules, they worked for this advantage, but in these tough matches anything can happen, there will be moments in the second game where there will be little to lose, but also when both will have to take risks.”

“No, I'm not 100% happy, especially for the first half, we didn't play the game we imagined, Cruz Azul has merits, they thought about the game to take a step forward from what we did with Toluca, they knew how to come out from behind, cleaner, we adjusted a little more in the second, but we generated less, that makes me think that we could have been a team that is going to attack Cruz Azul, this will happen in how we are going to get through the second game, we will plan a better game than today, but I would have liked to play better without a doubt.”

“I don’t know, I imagine that we can go to the second half, win it, what do I want, in the end we hope to look for with eight central defenders because we are going to go winning, imagining that we get to the end, we are going to see the most offensive version that America can have.”

“The refereeing issue is incredible, having the VAR that they don’t call you, an important advantage, is to expel a player, I hope that you talk about that, because for me it is clear.”

America waited for the error

Martín Anselmi spoke to the media after the first duel: “Yes, we imagined this match, with us having control, having the ball, America waiting for the error to score, that’s how it did against Toluca, we were calm, patient, we understood that it is a game in which if you make a mistake, you lose, they expect that.”

“Proud of the boys, they were always calm, it is a semifinal against a great team, it is going to be tough, we had one in the second half, if it goes to the right with Nacho it was a goal, we knew it was like that, now we have to prepare for the return.”

“They don't play away, and even less against each other. We always go in search of the result since the preparation of the match, it's our essence and identity. At home again, but now with our people, that's it.”

“We went looking for the goal, it was our stance during the match, deserving it is complex, one of Sepúlveda's that he can't get down well, the one I said about Luis, the one from the first half of Luis (Romo), in which their center back, Juárez, closes. We play in the rival field, it's the essence of Cruz Azul and we're not going to change it.”
