Sixers stars Joel Embiid and Paul George will be unavailable for Wednesday night’s home game against the Rockets.

The Sixers were back at practice Tuesday and with it came another update on their injured All-Stars. The team announced that Paul George, Joel Embiid, and Kyle Lowry all remain out for Wednesday’s game vs. the Rockets. While George participated in practice, Embiid and Lowry did not. The official update from the team is below.

Caleb Martin also did not practice after only playing a minute in the second half on Sunday with what has been described as a sore back. He is questionable for Wednesday’s game, and while not participating in practice isn’t a good sign for his availability, it seems like Martin has been playing hurt all season.

It’s not surprising that George is closer to return than Embiid. The team has been consistent in that they don’t believe George’s injury is as severe as what he suffered in the preseason. The team did not give any further update on the status of Embiid’s swelling. George spoke at practice today and said that he wants to return within the week.

While Embiid and Lowry were not participants in practice today, Nick Nurse singled them out as vocal leaders trying to help organize the team today.

“I’d probably say those two guys,” he said, “they’re making sure guys understand what they’re doing and making sure they’re getting things ironed out.”

Pending Martin’s availability, it will be a similar group taking the floor against Houston to the one that lost 126-99 to the Clippers on Sunday. We’ll see if there’s a different result.
