Raúl Jiménez disappointed to miss Benfica's Champions League debut
Mexican forward Raúl Jiménez expressed his disappointment for not being called up for Benfica's Champions League debut due to the injury he suffered last Saturday in the qualifying match between Mexico and El Salvador.
Upon his arrival in Portugal, the Aztec marksman stated that he would have liked to play against Besiktas, "but that's football. I hope to recover as soon as possible and be able to help my team again."
The former America player will be reevaluated by the club's medical staff to determine the severity of the knee injury and define the length of time he will be out of action.
In addition to missing the match against the Turkish team Besiktas, the striker will also watch from the stands the game corresponding to the fourth matchday of the Portuguese League, in which they visit Arouca.
The attacker has scored two goals in the league so far, against Vitoria in matchday two and against CD Nacional in matchday three; he is currently in second place in the standings with two wins and one draw.
