Barack Obama, President of the United States, openly commented on the protest that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been carrying out before the games he plays in the NFL.

Obama gave a conference during a work tour he is conducting in China, and took the time to touch on the topic of the quarterback who refuses to sing the American anthem, considering that the United States does not have equal rights and considering it "racist".

"(Kaepernick) is within his constitutional right to do so. I believe there are many ways (to protest) when it comes to the anthem and the flag. I have no doubt about his sincerity, I believe he really cares about different issues that we need to talk about," said the US President.

Kaepernick's cause has united a teammate, and even Seattle player Jeremy Lane. Regarding this, Obama admits that "there is a long history of sports stars who have done it".
