One of the most famous hitmen of the late Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar sent greetings to the recent incorporation of Atlético Nacional, the club that the 'Patrón' was a fan of. 'Popeye', ex henchman of the famous Medellín Cartel, received Argentine Ezequiel Rescaldani with open arms.

“Hello, champion! I am the trusted assassin of Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria. I survived the wars of my boss and my own. Today I am in the tomb of my boss. Argentine brother, welcome to Medellín, goal scorer. Welcome to Nacional,” he said.

Pablo Escobar was a recognized fan of Atlético Nacional. It is said a lot that thanks to him and his millions, the 'Verdolaga' team was able to win the Copa Libertadores in 1989. 'Popeye' continued with his message to the Argentine football player.

“Here we love Argentines, in Argentina they support me a lot in my new opportunity in society. Friend Ezequiel, receive my love,” said Jhon Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, popularly known as 'Popeye'.

Popeye recorded the video at the tomb of the late drug lord. Ezequiel Rescaldani comes from Quilmes in Argentina. He also played for Spanish Málaga and Mexican Puebla. Jhon Jairo wanted to finish the message in the following way, wishing the best for the forward.

“See you to give you a big hug and personally welcome you to Medellín. Always count on me and my love and respect so that we come to the tomb of the Patrón, I know you like history. Big hug and may God bless you,” he concluded.

"El Verde Paisa" will face Bolívar on September 13th in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16 at the Atanasio Girardot in Medellín. Atlético Nacional comes from winning the Copa Libertadores this year by defeating Independiente del Valle.
