National defender Carlos Zambrano had to wait a bit to make his debut in the Russian league. The former Eintracht Frankfurt player played the full 90 minutes in Rubin Kazan's draw against Orenburg (1-1) after four matches on the bench.

Carlos Zambrano was a substitute in the last few matches for Rubin Kazan because Spanish coach Javi Garcia believed that the 'Lion' needed some time to settle into the team.

"Speaking about the debut, of course, I am happy. If we talk about the game and the result, I am sad that we were not able to accomplish the task and take the three points," explained Carlos Zambrano to the press department of Rubin Kazan.

"This is football and it happens like this. We really wanted to win, but we were not successful," he added.

Carlos Zambrano has not been called up for the Peruvian national team in this last double matchday of the Russia 2018 Qualifiers against Bolivia and Ecuador. Ricardo Gareca, coach of the white and red team, is looking for other alternatives to replace the Rubin Kazan player.
