The Mexican boxer Elias Emigdio advanced to the round of 16 by defeating the Mongolian Amar Enkh-KharKhuu in his first fight at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The Tiger of Zitlala, who competes in the flyweight category, imposed his boxing skills from the beginning of the contest against an aggressive but disorganized Mongolian who showed signs of fatigue in the second round.
The tall Mongolian, who was taller than the Guerrero native, was very aggressive during the first three minutes of the fight, but maintaining the same intensity and missing a large part of his punches ended up affecting his stamina.
In the third round, knowing he was behind on the scorecards, Enkh-KharKhuu came out strong, but Emigdio managed distance and time to prevent the Mongolian from recovering points. At the end of the contest, Emigdio took the victory unanimously.
The Mexican boxer ended the fight with a small cut on the bridge of his nose.
Now, in the round of 16, Emigdio will face the Colombian David Avila Ceiber. He needs at least two more victories to aspire to a bronze medal.
