Chelsea's first signing of the Sonia Bompastor era is highly rated young midfielder Júlia Bartel, whose signing was announced by the club this morning.
The 20-year-old arrives on a free transfer from Barcelona, having signed a three-year contract, with an option for an additional year. Bartel had let her contract expire with the Champions of Spain and Europe. She leaves Barca after five seasons spent mostly in their B team, with five senior appearances to her name as well.
"I am very happy to be here at Chelsea. It’s one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I am very excited to be part of this club."

Bartel's signing was first rumored in the spring. She should be a great young addition to the team as we move into this brave new post-Hayes era.
"Julia is a top young player, who is technically excellent and has good pedigree coming through at Barcelona and the Spanish international youth teams.
"She has good leadership skills for someone at a young age and we look forward to seeing her develop in the upcoming years."

Welcome, Júlia! Let's win some things!
