Paris Saint-Germain have provided a medical update ahead of their Friday night fixture against AS Monaco.
The club have confirmed the earlier reports that suspected Marquinhos (29) would not be fit for the fixture. The centre-back had been struggling in recent weeks with completing training and was absent during last weekend’s 1-1 draw to Stade Rennais.
The current plan is for Marquinhos to resume training on Saturday as PSG hold out distant hope that the defender will be fit for the Champions League visit to Real Sociedad on Tuesday. However, it looks increasingly unlikely.
Marquinhos adds to injury crisis at centre-back
Elsewhere there has been no update on Milan Škriniar (29) and Presnel Kimpembe (28) who continue their rehabilitation programmes. This leaves PSG very light at the back for their upcoming game against Monaco with only three players fit and experienced at playing the centre-back role.
The club will have to rely on Danilo Pereira, Lucas Beraldo, and Lucas Hernandez for the foreseeable future.
