LAS VEGAS — What is the last look 49ers players want to see on film of the Kansas City Chiefs before Sunday’s in-person showdown at Super Bowl LVIII? Here is how some players plotted their final replays:

QUARTERBACK BROCK PURDY

“I’m not really sure if it’ll be a certain game. We have to review film of what we’re trying to do against the Chiefs. That’s first and foremost. But being able to look at some big games before that this (Chiefs) defense has played in, and the moments they’ve been, that will be pretty crucial to look at. We’ve already watched the ’19 Super Bowl and the playoff games they recently played in. So there’s a bunch of good games to watch and have watched. For me, it’s going to come down to what we’re trying to do against this defense.”

DEFENSIVE END NICK BOSA

‘I’ll probably look at the ‘beats’ tape that Kris (Kocurek, the defensive line coach) makes. It’s all the pass-rush wins against the (Chiefs) guys, just to get a little recap. But most of my film watching is pretty much done. I don’t like to overdo it, because you think too much. My position is more about instincts and technique.”

CORNERBACK CHARVARIUS WARD

“I’ll watch the game from last year when we played them, and the (2019 season’s) Super Bowl. Obviously it was the 49ers vs. the Chiefs, same offensive scheme, same defensive scheme. They know how they’re going to try to attack us, and they kind of know how we’re going to attack them. Just look at how they attacked me personally last year. … Watch it again. You don’t want to watch too much film. We try to have those two games fresh in our memory, because it’s 49ers vs. Chiefs, again.”

SAFETY TASHAUN GIPSON

“I’m currently watching the Chiefs vs. the Jaguars. I’m going through my Rolodex. By the end of Saturday, that’s when I wrap it up. I’ll get to the Baltimore game (for the AFC Championship) and go from there. I’ve watched bits and pieces, then I’ll go back and watch all of their games. We have had nothing but time. I’ve had two weeks. You don’t just watch the same cut-ups over and over. I go back and watch their whole game: ‘Oh, 2×2 … Oh, this route is coming.’ Sometimes I get it right, sometimes wrong. But it’s mentally preparing myself for what I’m facing Sunday.”

DEFENSIVE TACKLE JAVON KINLAW

“I want to see more of the run game. I’ll watch how they usually set up against good pass rushers. And I’ll usually ask Arik (Armstead) what else I should watch.”

DEFENSIVE TACKLE JAVON HARGRAVE

“I definitely want to watch our game they played in 2019. That’s big, for motivational purposes, to just feel it again. I remember coming into this week, I told Fred (Warner) I hadn’t watched that Quarterback show; well I watched it until the end because I didn’t want to see us losing (when the Eagles fell to the Chiefs in last year’s Super Bowl). That was just the best thing for me to watch that, to know I don’t want to feel that loss again.”

CENTER JAKE BRENDEL

“I like to watch the third-down rush cut. That gives me a good idea of what their flavors are, depending on what teams they’re playing and the down-and-distances. Then I like to watch the interior guys’ combo blocks (against the Chiefs).”

RIGHT TACKLE COLTON McKIVITZ

“I’ll watch our game from last season. I didn’t see the (2019) Super Bowl. The players might be different but the scheme is the same, and we ran well. It’ll be a great learning tool to end on.”

LINEBACKER FRED WARNER

(How to stop Andy Reid’s offense) “That’s what we’re trying to figure out, all the way up to Sunday. I can speak to Coach Reid, a fellow BYU Cougar; he’s been great in this league a long time. He creates such unique plays. There will be times we see looks we haven’t seen before and we have to just play out the down.”
