David Moyes has been discussing the winter window revealing the club’s ambitions!
It proved impossible of course and is a surprise as with the problems at the back one would have believed a new central defender might have been a priority.
Moyes reveals winter window ambitions
Never mind, as it turned out we got rid of three players and brought in Kalvin Phillips which based on his debut in a Hammers shirt looks as though it will take time to pay off.
The manager claims the club worked very hard to bring in a forward player but is very content to have seen the Manchester City player arrive.
Some might argue that we needed players who were up to speed right now but it would be a brave man who argued that Phillips was a poor loan.
In he pre-match presser for the Man United game Moyes revealed the club’s winter window scenario saying: “We wanted to strengthen in January. I think if you asked most managers then they would say something similar.
We worked really hard to bring in an attacking player as well but we couldn’t quite get there. There weren’t as many transfers in this window, certainly big transfers, as there have been in the past.
We knew Kalvin Phillips would need a little bit of time. He got the best part of 70 minutes against Bournemouth and that will help him along.
He’s a top player, an established England international, and there are no question marks about him as a player. It’s just a case of him needing a bit of game time and getting those opportunities to get back to his levels.”
