MADISON, Miss. (WLBT) - A former Madison Central High School football player is set to be the newest member of defensive coordinator Pete Golding and Ole Miss’ rejuvenated defense.
Thursday, linebacker CJ Barney announced his commitment to Lane Kiffin and the Rebels.

Barney spent the last two seasons playing at the JUCO level as a member of the Northeast Mississippi Community College football team. During his career as a NEMCC Tiger, Barney recorded 118 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks, according to NEMCC athletics.
The future Rebel was a key member of the Madison Central team that won the 2021 MHSAA 6A State Championship against Brandon High School.
Barney will join a loaded defensive class that Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has recruited ahead of the 2024 season.
