JAMMU: Consistent performance and team effort in the knockout stages on Thursday guided University of Jammu (JU) employees side sail into the semifinals of the ongoing All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament at RTM Nagpur University.
The collective effort from skipper Raj Kumar Bakshi, Niranjan and Balwant as also Aman, wh played their role to help the side made it to the last four stages of the competition.
The strong JU trounced PAU University Ludhiana by three wickets in the quarterfinals today, reports reaching here said. Batting first, PAU University Ludhiana scored 159 losing all their wickets. Rupinder remained top scorer with 36 runs while Kailash and Simar contributed 32 and 28 runs respectively.
From JU, Raj Kumar Bakshi bowled brilliant spell taking away three wickets for 19 runs in his spell of four overs. Balwant also bowled well securing three wickets. Karan and Rajesh took apiece each.
In reply, JU overhauled the opponent total making 163 runs in 18 overs with three wickets in hand. Inform Niranjan played superb innings of unbeaten 64 runs while Balwant and Raj Kumar Bakshi contributed 20 (not out) and 14 runs respectively.
From PAU Ludhiana, Guri Sohi and Dev Chandolia took two wickets each. For his all round performance, Raj Kumar Bakshi was declared man of the match.
Meanwhile, Director Sports JU, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba in a congratulatory message to the team wished them success in the semifinals. The team was also wished victories in the next encounters by the Jammu University Non Teaching Employees Union (JUNTEU).
