Anderson Silva to replace Jon Jones in UFC 200
Brazilian fighter Anderson Silva, former UFC middleweight champion, will replace Jon Jones and face Daniel Cormier this Saturday in the main event of UFC 200, to be held in Las Vegas.
The fight will take place in the light heavyweight division and will not be for Cormier's light heavyweight title. The co-main event of the evening will still be Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt.
Anderson Silva is considered the greatest fighter in mixed martial arts (MMA) history. However, the "Spider" has been on a losing streak, with three losses in his last five UFC fights.
In February, the 41-year-old Brazilian lost to Michael Bisping by split decision. In May, he was scheduled to fight Uriah Hall but had to withdraw due to illness.
With Anderson Silva joining the UFC 200 main card, the main event of the event now becomes Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes for the women's bantamweight championship.
UFC 200 Main Card:
- Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes for the women's bantamweight title
- Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt (heavyweight)
- Anderson Silva vs Daniel Cormier (light heavyweight)
- Jose Aldo vs Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight title
- Cain Velasquez vs Travis Browne (heavyweight)
