The Peruvian delegation won another gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games being held in Santiago, Chile. Diego Elías won the eighth gold medal, defeating Colombian Miguel Rodríguez 3-1 and becoming a two-time champion.
The Peruvian squash player, ranked number 2 in the world according to the PSA World Tour ranking, easily reached the final, where he faced Miguel Rodríguez, whom he had already encountered in Toronto 2015. On that occasion, the Colombian won the gold, while our compatriot took home the silver medal.
With Diego Elías's outstanding victory in the squash event, the Peruvian delegation has now won a total of 22 medals at the 2023 Pan American Games taking place in Santiago.
