Four months later! Lapadula's long-awaited return with Cagliari in the Italian Cup [VIDEO].

Hace un año

The Italian-Peruvian forward makes his return to the field and this time entered at the 76th minute, in the Cagliari vs. Udinese match for the Italian Cup.

No only Cagliari was waiting for him eagerly, but also the Peruvian National Team: Gianluca Lapadula put on the Italian team's shirt again and entered in the 76th minute to face Udinese, for the Coppa Italia. Yes, four months later, the Italo-Peruvian striker seems to have overcome his ankle injury that required surgery and even missed the entire start of the season with the 'Rossoblu'. The forward is one of the most anticipated moments for Claudio Ranieri's team, who have lacked effectiveness in recent games.

With a not very auspicious position in Serie A (second to last with 6 points in 10 games played), one of the main goal-scoring options returned to Cagliari. For now, the match (valid for the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia) is tied 1-1 and, if the draw persists, they will go to extra time. For this reason, Lapadula's entry is key in the offense.

A few weeks before playing the qualifiers for the Mexico, Canada and United States 2026 World Cup, the return of the Italo-Peruvian makes him even more of an option for Juan Reynoso in the Peruvian National Team. The forward was one of the starters in the previous process and is now poised to return in a big way, given the need for the 'blanquirroja' to accumulate points.

Just like in the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, he could be present in the matches against Bolivia (in La Paz) and Venezuela (in Lima); it was precisely against the 'Vinotinto' that he scored his first goal in a World Cup qualifying process, at the National Stadium.

What are Cagliari's upcoming matches?

Cagliari will play again this weekend when they host Genoa for the eleventh matchday of the 2023-24 Serie A. This match is scheduled for Sunday, November 5th, starting at 9:00 a.m., and will be exclusively broadcasted for all of Latin America by ESPN and Star Plus.

Later, Claudio Ranieri's team will have to focus on their match against Juventus, also in the Serie A. This duel is scheduled for Sunday, November 12th, starting at 12:00 p.m., and will take place at Juventus' stadium in Turin, with the broadcast by ESPN and Star Plus. This will also be a great opportunity for Gianluca Lapadula to continue accumulating minutes.
