Alejandra Valencia could not hide her happy face after winning the National Sports Award 2023, a recognition that she had been waiting for in her sports career for several years.
"I was sad after submitting my resume so many times, and there were times when I was not nominated, or when I was nominated and didn't win, and I wondered what else they want from me with all that I have achieved, but finally it happened with all the historic results I have achieved this year and where we also already have the Olympic qualification, so it is a good motivation for what is to come and towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games", Valencia stated.
The national archery team member shone during the 2023 World Cup Series, the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, and the Archery World Championships in Berlin, where she won a historic silver medal for our country. In addition to the seven medals achieved this year, she also contributed to Mexico securing spots at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
"I am excited because I have wanted it for a long time. After winning, I received many comments on social media that justice has finally been served for me, even from my sister and I thanked her, although I don't reply to messages," she mentioned.
