National pride! Peruvian surfer Maria Fernanda 'Mafer' Reyes won the gold medal in longboard by defeating Brazilian Chloe Calmon in the final of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
The national representative demonstrated her hierarchy on the Chilean beach of Punta de Lobos and conquered the gold medal with a total score of 7.50.

Chloe Calmon, on the other hand, scored 6.64, but it was not enough to surpass the Peruvian. She took home the silver medal.

Earlier, Benoit 'Piccolo' Clemente became a two-time Pan American champion by winning the gold in longboard by defeating Chilean Rafael Cortez.
The patriotic surfer, who also won gold at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, put Peru's name at the top on the Chilean beach of Punta de Lobos, with a total score of 12.16.
His rival achieved a final score of 10.37.

With Mafer Reyes' victory, the Peruvian team achieved its fifth gold medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Our team also holds one silver medal and 11 bronze medals, totaling 17 medals so far in the competition.
