Brazilian amateur boxer Joao Victor Penha died this Tuesday after receiving a powerful blow to the face during a fight held on Saturday October 14, a punch that took him to a hospital where he died three days later.
Fight in Brazil
The street fight took place in Jijoca de Jericoacoara, Brazil, in which the winner would receive the amount of 19 dollars (around 350 Mexican pesos), while the loser would receive 10 dollars (182 pesos).
Strong blow
The 23-year-old young man fell unconscious after receiving this strong blow to his face just 90 seconds after the fight started, so paramedics attended to him at the scene, where he regained consciousness but his condition worsened and he was taken to a nearby hospital.

Cranioencephalic trauma
This punch caused a cranioencephalic trauma, which would end his life; although the amateur boxer was declared brain dead, which caused a cardiac arrest.
Police investigation
Local media reported that the police are already investigating the events that led to the death of Joao Victor Penha.
'Lost his life for 19 dollars'
The boxer's brother revealed the amount that Joao would earn if he won.
"The winner of the fight would earn 19 dollars and the loser 10. Unfortunately, my brother's life was lost for this amount."
Joao's sister also revealed that the family had asked him not to fight in these types of places, where even his mother begged him not to go.
"This is totally absurd. I don't even know what to say, especially after the tragedy with my brother. We didn't want him to participate. We were all very worried. My mom asked him not to fight, thinking that something more serious could happen to him. We talked to him, but he asked us to support him and then we had no other choice,"
