"In response to your letter dated October 9, requesting the availability of professional footballer Alexander Succar for your friendly match against the United Arab Emirates, we must point out that, due to the armed conflict that unites your nation and prioritizing the protection of the life and health of our football player, on this occasion, we are obliged to decline the aforementioned call-up", reads the document from Universitario addressed to the Lebanese Football Association.
Ultimately, Alexander Succar will not join the training sessions with the Lebanese team for the match they had scheduled against the United Arab Emirates on October 17.
On the other hand, the 28-year-old forward has played 18 games so far in the 2023 season with Universitario, scoring only 1 goal. Numbers that caught the attention in Asia.
What is happening in Israel and why does it involve Lebanon?
Israel has declared war on Palestine after Hamas launched a military offensive against them. Meanwhile, Lebanon is on the side of the Palestinians and has joined their cause by bombing Israeli areas.
"The incorporation of Alexander Succar into the Lebanese national team has been postponed for security reasons," wrote the Lebanese Football Association on its official website.
