The Dunnellon football team dominated a pair of Marion County foes with two blowout wins in four days.
With a 41-7 homecoming win over Belleview last Friday followed by a 53-14 rout of rival North Marion on Monday, DHS improved to 5-2 overall.
The Tigers play host to Crystal River tonight, Oct. 13, against Crystal River (2-4) at Richard Kennedy Stadium. Dunnellon looks to improve to 2-0 in district play.
The North Marion game was originally scheduled for early September but was postponed due to Hurricane Idalia.
Outside of a win in 2020, Dunnellon has struggled in recent years on the road against NMHS. This year, the Tigers only needed two days of rest to upend their rivals.
North Marion fell to 1-5 on the season.
On homecoming night against the Rattlers (0-5), Dunnellon churned up 415 rushing yards and six touchdowns for a whopping 16 yards per carry. Dylan Donahoe, who scorched BHS for a 58-yard run, and Chris Henry each had a pair of rushing scores.
The Pirates enter tonight on a three-game losing streak, including a 43-6 loss at Lecanto last Friday.
Dunnellon gets a much-deserved bye next Friday before a couple big matchups with South Sumter (6-1) and Zephyrhills (5-2) to cap the regular season.
