In a pending match for the eighth round of the League, Águilas Doradas drew 0-0 against Deportivo Pereira and eliminated them from any chance of qualifying. With this result, the golden team remains as the solid leader with 34 points, while the 'matecaña' stayed with 16 points in the lower part of the standings.
With the need to win, Pereira came out aggressively to their sports venue and created opportunities to take the lead in the first quarter of an hour. The 'matecaña' resorted to long-range shots, with Bocanegra and Rodríguez being the protagonists to unsettle goalkeeper José Contreras.
Despite a strong start, Pereira lowered their tempo, although they continued to approach the opposing areas. Hernandez came close with a close-range header and Bocanegra again appeared with a long-range shot that went over the post.
In the final stage, the game changed, Pereira struggled to get close and Águilas reacted, after a first half with few offensive chances. After the 60th minute, the visitors approached dangerously on two occasions, thanks first to a shot and then a header from Rivas.
In the last fifteen minutes, Pereira tried to win the match, posed a threat with Quintero and Monroy, but failed to score, drawing 0-0 and being eliminated from the League.
