The renowned tennis player Juan Pablo Varillas announced on his social media accounts that he will not be part of the men's national tennis team competing in the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. The Peruvian number one player (65 ATP) explained the reason for his absence and reaffirmed his commitment to the national team.

"This time, by my own decision, and together with my team, we have decided to focus on my personal career and therefore not participate in the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games," he said in an Instagram story.

The athlete emphasized that "it has been a difficult decision to make," but despite that, he will continue to support the 'Blanquirroja' (Peru's national team) and reaffirms his commitment to representing Peru in future competitions.

"For me, representing my country has always been a great responsibility and honor. I always tried to do it in the best possible way, achieving incredible dreams and goals," reads the first part of his statement.

JUEGOS PANAMERICANOS 2023 (Pan American Games 2023)

As it is well known, the 2023 Pan American Games will take place in the city of Santiago, Chile, between October 20 and Sunday, November 5.

"The Pan American and Parapan American Games are the largest multi-sport event that Chile has ever hosted, with the participation of the best athletes from all over the continent. They are held every four years, and Chile will be the host country of the great celebration of America," reads the official website of the event.
