Monday was a busy day for the New Orleans Saints following their shutout victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Saints waived offensive lineman Tommy Kraemer after just over two months with the franchise.
Kraemer signed with the Saints on August 2 but was waived on August 29. He was subsequently re-signed to the practice squad. Last Friday, he was promoted to the active roster and played seven snaps for the Saints during Sunday’s victory.
Before joining the New Orleans Saints, Kraemer spent the previous two seasons with the Detroit Lions. The Lions signed Kraemer as an undrafted free agent from Notre Dame following the 2021 NFL draft. Although he was waived before the start of the 2021 NFL season, he returned with a practice squad designation. He earned a spot on the active roster by Week 8, making appearances in nine games with three starts. Kraemer went back and forth between the practice squad and active roster once more before ultimately remaining on the active roster for the rest of the season by Week 11.
Kraemer did not play during the 2022 NFL season as the Lions placed him on injured reserve due to a back injury.
