BROWNSTOWN — Class 2A No. 3 Brownstown Central built a 31-7 halftime lead on the way to a 45-14 victory over visiting Silver Creek in a key Mid-Southern Conference clash Friday night.

The Braves (8-1, 6-0) clinched the outright MSC title with the win. The loss, meanwhile, dropped the Dragons (5-3, 4-2) into a tie for third with Charlestown.

Brownstown led 10-0 at the end of the first quarter and increased its advantage to 24-0 in the second before Silver Creek got on the scorecard thanks to Kedon Ward’s 2-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Rothstein.

The Braves added another TD before the break, then two more in the third period to go up 45-7.

Samuel Conn’s 35-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter accounted for the final margin.

Brownstown’s Preston Garrison ran for 124 yards and two TDs to lead the way for the Braves, who gained 373 yards on the ground.

Brownstown quarterback Micah J. Sheffer completed 4 of 6 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 53 yards and another score.

Junior Jamari Powell ran 16 times for 97 yards to lead the Dragons, who gained 200 yards on 29 carries. Conn added 43 yards and a TD on four carries.

Silver Creek will host winless Corydon Central next Friday night in its regular-season finale.

PIONEERS STAY PERFECT

CORYDON — Class A No. 4 Providence stayed unbeaten with a 51-13 win at Corydon Central on Friday night.

The Pioneers got off to a fast start as Carter Lannan connected with Brian Wall for a 98-yard touchdown on the first play of the game.

A safety boosted Providence’s lead to 9-0 before Eli Theobald returned the Panthers’ ensuing kick for a TD. Luke Kruer’s scoring run a short time later put the Pioneers up 23-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second period, Cade Unruh ran for a touchdown and also caught a TD toss from Lannan before Thomas Lynch scored on a short run to make it 44-0.

Providence’s lead reached 51-0 on Blake Straub’s scoop and score.

The Pioneers (8-0) will try to cap off a perfect regular season when they host North Harrison (6-2) next Friday night at Sartini Field.

OWLS DOWN ‘DOGS

SEYMOUR — Seymour quarterback Bret Perry threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Owls to a 53-14 victory over visiting New Albany on Friday night.

Perry threw two TDs each to Jaylan Johnson and Kyle Hileman, as well as one to Jack Pennington.

Chase Loesch threw for 226 yards in defeat for the Bulldogs.

New Albany (2-6, 2-3) will close out its regular season next Friday night, when it hosts rival Floyd Central.

PIRATES TAME LIONS

CHARLESTOWN — Clay McClelland accounted for four touchdowns as host Charlestown downed Salem 46-22 in a Mid-Southern Conference matchup Friday night at Dutch Reis Field.

The Pirates built leads of 16-0, 24-7 and 32-14 before the Lions rallied to within 32-22 in the fourth quarter. However, Charlestown’s Tyree Stoner responded with two touchdowns for the 24-point triumph.

The Pirates (5-3, 4-2) will close out the regular season at Eastern next Friday.

OLYMPIANS DEFEAT DEVILS

JEFFERSONVILLE — Visiting Columbus East defeated Jeffersonville 25-7 Friday night on Bill Ware Field.

Olympians quarterback Kyson Villarreal tossed a pair of touchdown passes late in the first quarter to put the visitors up 13-0.

Skylar Bailey then kicked a pair of second period field goals to put East up 19-0. The O’s cruised from there to their 20th straight victory over the Red Devils.

Jeff (0-8, 0-5) will host Jennings County in its regular-season finale next Friday night.

COUGARS CLOBBER GENERALS

RAMSEY — Host North Harrison clipped Clarksville 35-8 Friday night.

The Generals (0-8) will host Crawford County next Friday night.
