Anguix: "They are killing us day by day in sports"

"People couldn't fit in the most important square in the city. It has been a tremendous success," declared the president after the demonstration due to the situation the club is going through.

"People couldn't fit in the most important square in the city. It has been a tremendous success," declared the president after the demonstration due to the situation the club is going through.

The president of Elche CF, Juan Anguix, has lamented the "unfair" situation that the team is going through, whose fans demonstrated en masse this Thursday in Plaça de Baix, awaiting the communication from the Administrative Court of Sports (TAD) regarding the team's relegation or not to the Liga Adelante, in order to plan the season.

"There was not enough room for people in the most important square of the city. It has been a tremendous success and there are no words to show the affection that we have from the club to the fans," referred the maximum leader of the team in declarations to Radio Marca collected by Europa Press, referring to this Thursday's demonstration by the Illicitano fans.

Anguix, who took over the position from José Sepulcre at the end of April and took the reins in the midst of a critical economic situation, recalled that the club settled its debts with the tax office and requested speed from the TAD in its resolution. "It's a very difficult situation. They're killing us every day in sports terms. We were supposed to start pre-season on Monday, there is no coach, there are no players...," he said.

"The project of 35 or 40 million in La Liga, or 8 million in Segunda, is different. That's why we argue that the TAD should realize that sports preparation takes time and the decision must be made as soon as possible. Neither Elche, nor its fans, nor any club in Spain deserves this. There are thousands of jobs at stake," he explained.

"It's unfair. Elche doesn't owe anything to the tax office and the rest have until July 31 to be up to date. I thought (Tebas) had a grudge against Sepulcre but then I saw that the actions are still the same. Every two days we receive a notification from the league that restricts Elche's actions," he added.

And Anguix insisted that the waiting situation is unviable. "The league cannot allow us to be where we are on July 3. A decision must be made. The league has already made a decision, it thought that no matter what we did we would be relegated to Segunda, but the TAD is the only one that can legally relegate us. Precisely when the TAD has to decide, Elche owes zero euros," he said.

"I don't know legally how they can relegate us. If they do it, we will request the provisional measure. They have until July 15, but it's better to know tomorrow than in two weeks. Why punish a city for some directors that the league has already punished? The TAD lifted the disqualification from the board and now, with everything paid off, if they put us in Segunda it would be very curious," he concluded.
