In a duel of undisputed champions, Mexican boxing star Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez defeated American Jermell Charlo by unanimous decision on Saturday night in Las Vegas and retained his super middleweight titles (168 pounds - 76.2 kg).
Álvarez successfully defended his WBO (World Boxing Organization), WBA (World Boxing Association), WBC (World Boxing Council), and IBF (International Boxing Federation) belts for the third time against a Charlo who fought two weight classes above his own to face the Mexican media star.
The 33-year-old Mexican controlled the fight against Charlo, the undisputed champion of the super welterweight division (154 - 69.8), from start to finish, and the judges awarded him the victory with scores of 119-108, 118-109, and 118-109.
