Young athlete Johan Stiven García wins bronze medal for Colombia in Ibero-American Athletics Championship
Johan Stiven García, a young sportsman from the municipality of Motavita, won the bronze medal in the 2,000 meters steeplechase event at the first Ibero-American Sub18 Athletics Championship, which took place in Lima (Peru) from September 15th to 17th.
García finished third with a time of 6 minutes and 12 seconds, and although he did not break the record as he intended, it is an important achievement considering that he competed against the best youth athletes in Latin America, and the result represents an outstanding mark for the conditions offered by the Peruvian capital.
García shared the podium with Brazilian Gustavo Almeida da Silva and Peruvian Lizardo Huamari, who finished first and second with times of 6 minutes and 6 minutes and 3 seconds respectively. The competition also included athletes from Ecuador and Argentina. Johan Stiven also represented Colombia in another event, precisely in the 1,500 meters flat race, where he finished sixth with a time of 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

Colombia finished second with 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals, while Spain ranked third with 9 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals.
