Ireland might be one of the favourites for the tournament but you won't hear many saying that

Ireland are coming to Rugby World Cup 2023 on the back of winning the Six Nations Grand Slam and are one of the favourites for the tournament. They arrived in France on a 13-match winning run but having failed to fully convince during last month's disjointed victories over Italy, England and Samoa.

But there is to be no talk in Ireland of going all the way, and one rugby legend has even launched a 'Don't Jinx It Campaign' with a hilarious Guinness advert.

Irish rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll apologises and owns up to his potential role in the team's previous defeat in the 2019 tournament, and he is joined by another familiar face.

The outside centre is seen sitting at the bar with a pint of the black stuff in front of him and says: "I need to get something off my chest that has been weighing heavily for a few years now. You see I feel partly responsible for the lads' loss in 2019. I might have said on a podcast that they were going to go all the way. I totally jinxed it. All I can do is apologise and say 'It won't happen again'.

"Help me spread the message around the country 'You can think it, just don't jinx it'."

After being joined by fellow legend Keith Wood, he touches the former hooker's had and says ; "And if you do......touch wood."

While Wood remains silent in the advertisement, he's not been shy in voicing his anxiety around Ireland getting out of their pool.

Ireland will be looking to put their quarter-final curse to bed, but have to get their campaign off to a strong start and any slips ups will cost them dearly. They are in Pool B which is set to be hotly contested with Ireland joined by reigning champions South Africa and Scotland in competing for the two available quarter-final spots.

The Guinness 'Don't Jinx It' campaign will run throughout September and October, with organisers saying they aim to unite nation in supporting the Irish rugby team throughout their World Cup journey which begins this weekend with their first fixture against Romania on Saturday.
