Sources confirmed to ESPN that the cement executive made a proposal to Cincinnati FC to hire the American selected player
MEXICO -- The Mexican-American forward Brandon Vázquez has joined the options that Cruz Azul has to strengthen the front line, when the cement club has less than 10 days left for the closing of registrations in the Mexican League.
Sources confirmed to ESPN that the celestial directive made an offer to Cincinnati FC to hire the 24-year-old American selected player, although they recognize that it is a complicated operation because the MLS club does not want to part with one of their best players.
ESPN had previously reported on Friday that Cruz Azul currently has significant progress in independent negotiations to sign the Brazilian Joao Figueiredo from Basaksehir in Turkey, in addition to the Argentine Enzo Copetti from Charlotte FC in the United States.
Figueiredo and Copetti are now joined by Vázquez as an alternative to strengthen the cement attack, which only has the Colombian Díber Cambindo and the Mexican Ángel Sepúlveda in the center forward position for this Apertura 2023.
According to the sources consulted by ESPN, of the three players, the one that fills the eyes of the directive the most is Brandon Vázquez, who has scored 5 goals and distributed 3 assists in 22 matches this season in the MLS, 21 of them as a starter. Last year, the forward born in Chula Vista, California, scored 18 goals and provided 8 assists in 33 league games.
On the other hand, Copetti raises some doubts in La Noria due to several injuries he has had in his knee, ankle, and right calf, although he is a player that Cruz Azul has been following since 2022 when he was in Racing Club in Argentina.
Meanwhile, Figueiredo is a forward who is liked in La Noria for his attacking mobility characteristics and, according to the informants consulted by ESPN, he is the closest to signing with Cruz Azul until Sunday night, although all alternatives are still open for now.
The closing of registrations in the Mexican League is on Wednesday, September 13th at 5:00 pm Central Mexico Time, so all the documentation for a possible loan or definitive transfer must be fully submitted to the Mexican League and the FMF before that date and time limit in order to register the player.
