Florida Gators' Successful Summer on the Recruiting Trail
It has been a successful summer for Billy Napier and the Florida football recruiting team, which saw the program climb into the upper echelon of the 2024 recruiting rankings as the regular season draws near.
While there is still work to do before the official signing periods for the current class, a majority of the hard work has already been expended. What is left now are a few remaining coveted prospects who are biding their time in making what will likely be the biggest decision of their lives.

Gators' Recruiting Ranking
With the opening kickoff of this fall’s campaign coming tomorrow in Salt Lake City, Utah, it is worth taking a look at where the Gators stand in comparison to their peers on the recruiting trail. The 247Sports Composite — possibly the most trusted name in recruiting analysis — has the Orange and Blue at No. 3 overall, behind the Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes, respectively.
The ranking is consistent with that of ESPN, which also has Florida third overall behind the same two respective teams.
The Gators currently hold 22 verbal commitments, headlined by five-star quarterback DJ Lagway and five-star safety Xavier Filsaime, who represent the top members of the class on each side of the ball. The ratings break down into the two aforementioned five stars, along with 14 four stars and six three stars among the commits.
Florida will be hosting a myriad of prep prospects at its home games in the Swamp this fall, including several top 2024 recruits. So far, a majority of the planned game day visits are set for Sept. 16 against the Tennessee Volunteers.
Florida opens its 2023 schedule on the road against Utah on Thursday, Aug. 31, with a kickoff time of 8 p.m. EDT.
