Kimberly García, won the silver medal in the 35 km race walking at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Thursday, August 24th. This time, the Peruvian athlete tried to defend the title that Peru won last year in Oregon. However, on this occasion, she finished behind Spanish athlete María Pérez.

In response to the result, 'Kim' stated that she hopes to reach first place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. She also mentioned being happy with the result obtained, despite not meeting her expectations.
“It's a silver medal and it's in a World Championship, so I'm happy, but it wasn't the expectations I had. I just have to keep preparing for the Olympics. I know the Olympics will be the rematch, so I want that rematch in Paris”, she said to La República newspaper.

Regarding the 20 km race, in which she finished fourth, she said she had to calm down in order to be prepared for Thursday's competition. She admitted that it wasn't an easy race, but she gave her best.
“I came here to defend my titles from Eugene in both distances. After finishing fourth in the 20 kilometers, I had to calm down and recover to be ready for today. It wasn't an easy competition. I did my best, but it wasn't enough for the gold medal”, she said.
