Argentine Estudiantes de La Plata qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2023 Copa Sudamericana by winning 2-0 away to Brazilian Goiás, whom they had already defeated 3-0 in the first leg of the round of sixteen.

A goal at the start of each half, the first by Gastón Benedetti and the second by Benjamin Rollheiser, both with beautiful shots from outside the box, gave Pincharrata another victory over a Goiás side that was far inferior throughout the tie.

The miracle Goiás needed to equalize the 3-0 they suffered in the first leg began to fade very early, in the 5th minute, when Gastón Benedetti picked up a ball on the left wing of the Argentine attack and without hesitation, unleashed a shot from outside the box that surprised Tadeu.

With the tie practically decided, Goiás didn't give up and launched an attack to give joy to the 35,000 spectators who attended the Serra Dourada, although they lacked accuracy. Seconds after the visiting goal, Allano had the equalizer with a shot from the right, but Andújar, very attentive, prevented the goal.

Pincha dedicated themselves to controlling the match and withstood the home team's attacks. Allano and Joao Magno came close to scoring the equalizer, but were denied by Andújar. On the counter-attack, Estudiantes came close to scoring the second, with a shot by Mauro Méndez that Tadeu saved at the last moment.

In the last minute of the first half, Guilherme Marques hit the crossbar with a free-kick for a Goiás side fighting to avoid relegation in the Brasileirao.

The initial script repeated itself in the second half when José Rollheiser received the ball on the right flank of the Argentine attack, prepared himself, and from outside the box unleashed a curved shot that went into the Brazilian goal.

The 2-0 completely killed Goiás' aspirations of a comeback. Local coach Armando Evangelista, quickly made changes, taking off several of his starters, thinking about the next match in the Brazilian championship and avoiding any injuries.

On the Argentine side, Eduardo Domínguez did the same with his bench, so the second half lost intensity and there were practically no goal scoring opportunities.

Estudiantes, who eliminated Goiás for the second time in a continental competition (they also did it in the round of sixteen of the 2006 Libertadores), will return to Brazil to face Corinthians in the quarterfinals.
