The Peruvian athlete -two-time world champion in the mentioned distance and also in the 35 km- completed the competition with a time of 01:27:32, which did not allow her to surpass her personal best mark or enter the podium of the contest.

The national athlete, 29 years old, led the race for much of the distance; but she could not maintain the pace in the last kilometers and finished very close to the podium. She was only six seconds away from the Italian Antonella Palmisano (01:27:26), who won the bronze medal in Budapest.

This tough competition will allow Kimberly García to arrive in good condition for the challenges ahead. Her next challenge will be the women's 35-kilometer race walking, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 24. Remember that the athlete will defend the gold she won in Eugene.
