Back home! The college student returned to Lolo Fernández stadium in the midst of a sea of fans [VIDEO].

Viernes 11 de Agosto del 2023

The first Universitario de Deportes team was called to the Breña venue for their routine practices, summoning a large number of fans for their reception.

Universitario de Deportes lives an important sporting present, being the sole leader of the Torneo Clausura of the Liga 1 Betsson, with 17 units in the competition. While this makes the first team's spirits high, Jorge Fossati found the perfect way to further fill the thermometer of the team's feeling and identification with the institution, by deciding to take his players to a training session at the historic Lolo Fernández stadium in Breña.

After 23 years without a main Merengue team being able to use its facilities, the long-awaited return home finally took place, after improvements were made to the main field in recent months with the intention of recovering one of the institution's assets.

As expected, dozens of fans of Universitario de Deportes gathered outside the Breña venue to see their idols, who arrived in their own vehicles to put themselves under the orders of the Uruguayan coach with a view to their next challenge in the Liga 1 Betsson.

It is worth mentioning that the Lolo stadium's field is artificial turf, being one of the most outstanding differences compared to the Monumental (natural grass), although this will not be decisive in the training session that Jorge Fossati will propose for this morning.

Universitario expects a full house against Binacional

If there is something clear throughout the season, it is that if the team responded on the field, the fans also fulfilled in the stands (they demonstrated it throughout the Liga 1 Betsson and the Copa Sudamericana). In the midst of this, the Merengue club - through its social media - confirmed that 35 thousand tickets have already been sold for the match against the Juliaca team.

In this way, Universitario de Deportes has the mission of maintaining good numbers in the second half of the year (in seven matches, they have five victories and two draws). Yes, the goal is also to catch up with Alianza Lima in the overall standings and secure their presence in the playoffs. Now it's time to host 'Bi'.
