Harry Maguire, who less than a month ago lost the captaincy of Manchester United, which he had held for the last three and a half years, will finally stop being a Red Devil and become a player of West Ham.
According to 'The Athletic', with full coffers after the sales of Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca, the London club had offered £30 million for Maguire, and that sum has now been accepted.
David Moyes' team is looking for reinforcements in defense after selling Declan Rice to Arsenal in a deal worth £105 million, while Maguire hopes to relaunch his career as a 'Hammer' after a very controversial last stage under the orders of Erik ten Hag.
Maguire, 30 years old, has played 177 games with United and in recent times he has been heavily criticized by both fans and the press for his performance, although these criticisms have also coincided with three poor years of the English club.
Maguire lost his place in United
The center-back only played in 16 Premier League games last season, with Lisandro Martínez, Raphaël Varane, and Victor Lindelof ahead in terms of the center of the defense.
The media pointed out that Maguire, with a contract until 2025, hoped to stay at Manchester United and fight for a place in the starting 11 at Old Trafford, but England coach Gareth Southgate indicated that the lack of minutes at United could affect his international career.
Maguire was appointed captain of the Red Devils by the Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, his former coach, in January 2020 after signing from Leicester City for £88 million, becoming the most expensive defender in history, a title he held until this summer with the arrival of Croatian Gvardiol at Manchester City.
