The process of polarized windows for vehicles is one of the most common among people nowadays, and this is due to various factors such as aesthetics or even safety. That is why we tell you what you need to do to obtain this permission.

The first thing to do is to make the payment for the procedure, which has a cost of S/. 71.40. This can be done at any agent or window of the Banco de la Nación, but there is also the chance to do it online through the Pagalo.pe platform.

After that, you must submit a request for the requirement, so you will have to go to the Directorate of Transit, Transportation and Road Safety of the PNP from the department where you reside. In the case of Lima, go to block 20 of 28 de Julio avenue, in the district of La Victoria.

Do not forget to bring the printed payment receipt, a photocopy and the original document of the SOAT, as well as a copy of your ID, the vehicle registration card, the technical inspection, and an informative receipt from Sunarp, which can be obtained at a cost of S/ 5.00.

Once these documents have been submitted, you will have to schedule an appointment for the car inspection, choose a date, and on the day assigned you must attend with the polarized window. If it is approved, you will be given a new appointment for delivery.

How long does it take to receive the permission for polarized windows?

It is important to indicate that, after passing the inspection, you will receive your polarized window permit in 7 days, and then you will have no problem driving your car.

What happens if I drive with polarized windows without permission?

If you drive your car with polarized windows without permission, the National Police of Peru has the right to fine you with S/. 304 for this infraction, and also add 20 points to your driver's record.

Polarized window levels in Peru

These are the three permitted levels of polarized windows in Peru.

• Negative level: This is for official vehicles, State vehicles, diplomatic vehicles, or those carrying money.
• Intermediate level: This is the most common permit, and it may even come included from the factory.
• Positive level: This is the most transparent level, where you can see people inside the vehicle without any problem.
