Carlos Vela close to professional retirement.

With a career full of achievements and success in Europe as well as in the MLS, Carlos Vela has mentioned on several occasions that he is aware that his farewell as a professional is approaching. In an interview with Felipe Cárdenas for The Athletic, the 34-year-old forward expressed his desire to retire in his own way and at the right time. He also acknowledged that he can no longer deceive himself thinking that he will play for many more years, and each season he evaluates his body and mind to continue in the sport he loves. The captain and number 10 of LAFC also spoke about his decision to leave the Mexican National Team, indicating that he wants to finish his career at a high level and not be forced to retire due to physical limitations.

“I want to finish (my career) well. I don't want to be let go because I can't play anymore. If my mind and body are not at one hundred percent, I will step aside and let others intervene. I have always been clear about that. I know it will come soon”. Vela mentioned.

The footballer, who has been instrumental in the growth of soccer in the United States, mentioned that he has contributed to the development of the game in that country and feels part of everything that has been built in the MLS. Since his arrival in the American league, Vela has left a significant mark, being recognized by players like Antoine Griezmann and leading his team, LAFC, to achieve important titles.
