Cusco FC continues working to catch a second wind in the Clausura Tournament of the Betsson League 1. In the last three matches, they did not register any wins: they lost to Sport Huancayo, Alianza Atlético, and drew with Cienciano. In the midst of all this, another piece of news was confirmed that will weaken their team. What happened? Panamanian forward José Fajardo was signed by DC United of the MLS.

The Panamanian striker caught the attention of the US team with his performances for his national team in the Gold Cup, where they finished in second place (lost in the final to Mexico). Likewise, his good game with Cusco FC convinced DC United to take him on.

The 29-year-old forward was also part of the campaign for promotion to the First Division in the 2022 season (his contract was until December of this year). Therefore, according to the statement sent by the club to the media, "Cusco FC owns 50 percent of the player's pass, so they will receive half of the payment for the sale of the Panamanian player."

The management of Cusco FC, as well as the entire team and coaching staff, expressed their gratitude and affection to José Fajardo for his new path in his career. In addition, "they wish him and his family good luck in this new stage." They even emphasized that "the doors of the club are open."

The 29-year-old footballer leaves the Cusco team with six goals and one assist in 16 games in the 2023 Betsson League 1. In the coming days, José Fajardo will be officially announced as a new player for DC United of the MLS, the former team of Edison Flores. The forward will have the challenge of facing great stars who are joining American football, such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, among others.
