Paul Mullin is synonymous with Wrexham and the prolific marksman is as well placed as anyone to give his verdict on the club's world-famous owners.
The 28-year-old forward supplied the goals - 38 of them, no less - as the Red Dragons achieved promotion back to the EFL at the 15th time of asking last term. The standout name from the Wrexham's victorious charge towards the National League title, it is fair to say that the striker was central to the team achieving the objectives set out by the club's chairmen.
Hollywood pair Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have matched ambition with genuine commitment during their time in charge at the North Wales outfit and it appears that they have won the admiration of their star man on the pitch. In a quick-fire interview where Mullin was only able to give one-word answers to questions, the former EFL journeyman's liking for the acting duo shone through.
While speaking to Goal, the ex-Tranmere Rovers forward simply replied that "It's Always Sunny" megastar McElhenney was "funny", while also reserving praise for "Deadpool" star Reynolds, calling him "cool". He also gave some insight into his thoughts on the hit TV series " Welcome to Wrexham", deeming the show to be daunting.
This is far from the first time that the Wrexham fan-favourite has been asked about his relationship with his famous bosses, with Mullin having previously admitted that the movie stars had to lay on the charm to secure his signature. He told the EFL’s official website : "They had to win me over in terms of what the plans were for the club.
"I had to buy into that and believe what they were telling me. Everything they’ve promised me, they’ve stuck to. I want to play as high as I can in football, as anyone does.
"But when this opportunity arose, it was the best for me as a family man, who wanted to be close to home. It was the perfect solution for me rather than moving away to play in higher leagues. I care about my son more than that."
There is no doubt that the Liverpool-born star's legacy at the Racecourse Ground is very much secure after his heroics on the way to the Red Dragons' landmark promotion last season. Alongside former England goalkeeper and strike partner Ollie Palmer, he will now be called upon to lead another charge in League Two next term.
Until then, the Walian side are enjoying a dream tour of the US, with dates on the trip including a clash versus Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United. Despite having been on the receiving end of a 5-0 drubbing against the Blues, Phil Parkinson's men followed this up with a fine 4-0 victory over LA Galaxy II.
They are expected to face a weakened Red Devils team during the friendly against Erik ten Hag's players before what will likely prove to be an emotional encounter in McElhenney's hometown versus Philadelphia Union II to round things off. They will face MK Dons in their first League Two fixture of the new season.
