For the second day of Group A of the V South American Games in Santa Marta, Colombia, the Paraguayan beach soccer team won their first victory by 8-3 against Panama and recovered from the defeat (5-6) in their debut against the Colombian team.
At Parque Multideportivo El Rodadero stadium, Pynandi, led by coach Joaquín Molas, started the game with Carlos Ovelar; Enzo Cáceres, Jhovanny Benítez, Sixto Benítez, and Thiago Barrios. Alan Rodas, Jesús Rolón, Néstor Medina, Milciades Medina, Gustavo Benítez, Luis Ojeda, and Valentín Benítez (C) also entered the game.
Goals for Albirroja were scored by Luis Ojeda, Thiago Barrios, Enzo Cáceres, Gustavo Benítez, Néstor Medina, Milciades Medina, and Sixto Cantero (2).
VOLLEYBALL AND ROWING
In women's beach volleyball, Erika Mongelós and Michelle Valiente defeated Carmelita Spie and Chanice Myr from Surinam by 2-0 (21-4 and 21-4). Mongelós and Valiente later lost in their second match on Wednesday by 0-2 (22-20 and 23-21) against Claudia Gaona and Lisbeth Allcca Merino from Peru.
The other Paraguayan duo formed by Giulina Poletti and Laura Ovelar won by 2-1 (19-21, 21-13, and 15-9) against María Enriquez and Morena Abdala from Argentina. In beach sprint rowing -CW1x-women, Paraguayan Fiorela Rodríguez reached the quarterfinals in the singles. In sprint -CM2x-men, Arturo Rivarola and Gabriel Yser finished fourth.
