In current times, millions of people worldwide have a mobile device that has become a vital object in their lives because it offers various functions that are very important for their day, such as making calls, messages, saving photos or documents, among others.
Despite this, other users want to download other applications for educational purposes, entertainment, making purchases, etc. In this sense, they are accustomed to calling the applications by the following abbreviation: app.

However, the doubt still remains as to which is the correct indefinite article to accompany the aforementioned word: "una app" or "un app". After being consulted about this uncertainty, the Real Academia Española (RAE) provided its final verdict.

According to what was revealed by the institution specialized in the Spanish language, it determined that this word is mostly used "as feminine due to the influence of the gender of the Spanish equivalent 'aplicación'". That is, the correct way to write and say this word is "la app" or "una app".
