In Chile, many people have the opportunity to access different economic supports provided by the Government of the country. Among them is the Winter Bonus, which in 2023, thanks to an initiative by Gabriel Boric, will be doubled, allowing the beneficiaries, who in this case are older adults, to have extra income to use. When is the Winter Bonus delivered?

How much is the Winter Bonus worth?

This contribution is $60,000 Chilean pesos and is intended to help older adults, especially those who receive a pension equal to or less than $201,677 pesos. It is important to note that the Winter Bonus has been doubled.

How is the Winter Bonus paid?

The delivery method for the economic support is according to the choice made by the retiree. That is, deposit into the RUT account or by going in person to the locations designated by the Government (the elderly have a one-year period to do this).

Who receives the Winter Bonus?

  • Pensioners of the Social Security Institute, the Labor Security Institute, the Pension Funds, and the Employers' Mutualities of Law No. 16,744, whose pensions are equal to or lower than the minimum old-age pension value established in Article 26 of Law No. 15,386, for pensioners aged 75 or older at the time of the benefit payment.
  • Pensioners of the system established in Decree Law No. 3,500 of 1980 who are receiving minimum pensions with state guarantee under Title VII of said legal framework.
  • Pensioners of the system established in the aforementioned Decree Law who are receiving a solidarity retirement contribution, whose pensions are equal to or lower than the minimum old-age pension value established in Article 26 of Law No. 15,386, for pensioners aged 75 or older at the time of the benefit payment.
  • Recipients of the universal guaranteed pension, provided they are not entitled to any other pension under any retirement system.
  • Pensioners of any retirement system who, in addition, are receiving a universal guaranteed pension and whose pensions are equal to or lower than the minimum old-age pension value established in Article 26 of Law No. 15,386, for pensioners aged 75 or older at the time of the benefit payment (Information from the Government of Chile).
