The Chilean Government provides its citizens with various economic supports, including the Winter Bonus. This subsidy is intended for people who receive the money to have extra income to cover some expenses and also to cope with the increase in prices of basic food items.

How much is the Winter Bonus?
This contribution is $60,000 pesos, and it is intended to help the elderly, especially those who receive a pension equal to or less than $201,677 pesos.
Who receives the Winter Bonus?
- Pensioners of the Social Security Institute, the Labor Security Institute, the Pension Funds, and the Employer Mutual Societies of Law No. 16.744, whose pensions are equal to or less than the minimum old-age pension value of Article 26 of Law No. 15.386, for pensioners 75 years old or older at the date of payment of the benefit.
- Pensioners of the system established in Decree Law No. 3.500, of 1980, who are receiving minimum pensions with state guarantee, according to Title VII of said legal body.
- Pensioners of the system established in said Decree Law who are receiving a solidarity contribution to old age pension, whose pensions are equal to or less than the minimum old-age pension value of Article 26 of Law No. 15.386, for pensioners 75 years old or older at the date of payment of the benefit.
- Beneficiaries of the universal guaranteed pension, provided they are not entitled to another pension under any pension scheme.
- Pensioners of any pension scheme who, additionally, are receiving a universal guaranteed pension and whose pensions are equal to or less than the minimum old-age pension value of Article 26 of Law No. 15.386, for pensioners 75 years old or older at the date of payment of the benefit (Information from the Government of Chile).
How is the payment of the Winter Bonus made?
The method of delivery of the economic support is according to the choice of the retiree: deposit through a RUT account or attending in person at the places determined by the Government (the elderly person has a period of one year to do so).
