The 'Eagles' of America defeated 'La Franja' of Puebla 3-0 on Saturday at the Azteca Stadium, in the continuation of the third matchday of the Mexican Apertura-2023 tournament. Kevin Álvarez appeared in the area in the 35th minute and scored the 1-0 for the 'Eagles' with a shot from Colombian Julián Quiñones. The 2-0 was scored by Argentine Leonel Álvarez, in the 45+2, with a touch past the goalkeeper, while Julián Quiñones scored the 3-0 with a close-range touch from the pass of Uruguayan Brian Rodríguez, in the 87th minute. In this way, the blue and cream team added their first three points.

In the first matchday, America was surprised at their own home, the Azteca Stadium, by the 'Bravos' of Juárez, who came from behind to win 2-1.
"It's a tough blow, we definitely imagined something different," said Brazilian André Jardine in his debut as head coach of the 'Eagles', while also explaining the defeat: "America is the team most affected by the Mexican national team and some players will take some time to reach their ideal physical condition."
